Ko’olau Ballrooms/Conference Center, Kaneohe, Hawaii
The Hawaii Water Environment Association (HWEA) Collection System Committee and the Western Chapter of the North America Society for Trenchless Technology (WESTT) are proud to invite you to participate in this year’s exciting joint conference. This conference will include a wide variety of topics related to wastewater collection systems, with an emphasis on collection system technologies, policies, and regulations. The conference will feature:
Registration Limits:
Pre-Conference: 30 persons
1-Day Conference: 300 persons
Post Conference: 90 persons
Agenda: Officer Elections and Hawaii Sourced Storm Water Treatment Materials Presentation
Speaker: ???, Kennedy Jenks
Topic: Hawaii Sourced Storm Water Treatment Materials
With increasing focus on storm water quality across the country and Hawaii, storm water treatment is becoming a requirement to achieve extremely low regulated numerical effluent limits. Media filtration is a commonly used treatment technology. However, as one of the most geographically isolated locations in the world, Hawaii relies significantly on imported materials. Filter media with proven success are also imported, resulting in higher costs. Through a grant from HWEA, the research team identified 15 potential materials and evaluated them based on 9 criteria. Materials selected for evaluation were previously researched materials that may be sourced in Hawaii. The materials ranged from aggregates and organic materials to used products.
Cost: $20 members, $25 non-members, $10 students (Online registration and payment only) Lunch buffet included
A full-day training workshop and excursion symposium, our headlining trainers Taylor and Don from Time 4 Change will have participants realize and develop their own unique communication style, explore ways to collaborate more effectively within their organization through hands-on exercises, and gain valuable skills on improving their personal and professional relationships through the B.A.N.K Personality Model. After lunch, participants will take a private excursion of the City and County of Honolulu’s solid waste program for our grey, blue, and green bins with facility tours of H-Power (Covanta), RRR Recycling Services, and the Waimanalo Gulch Sanitary Landfill.
See flyer for more details on how to register and workshop agenda.
This event is a pre-conference for a WEFMAX Honolulu conference, in which mainland and international members will be in attendance, so we encourage all ages, experience levels, and industry professions to participate.
The Western Society for Trenchless Technology (WESTT), the western chapter of NASTT, has graciously invited HWEA members to participate in their free trenchless webinar series. Please see below for details.
