HWEA Positioned For Success

Aloha HWEA members! My name is Jessica Agsalda and I am honored to serve as HWEA President for the 2025-2026 term. As our Past-President, Brandon Uejo, and our Executive Director, Aiko Fajardo, have graciously brought me up to speed on all things HWEA, I am feeling hopeful and excited at all goals we will be working towards completing together.

This year, the Board will concentrate on revising HWEA’s three-year Strategic Plan. This process has prompted me to reflect on our organization’s core values and the services we provide our membership. I have also been reflecting on my own volunteer experience with HWEA which first began in 2013, when I became involved with the Young Professionals (YP) Committee. My experiences remind me about how important this organization is in providing education and networking opportunities for water professionals. I hope that this year we can motivate young professionals to increase their involvement, thereby filling vital committee chair positions that are currently vacant.

Our organization acknowledges the significant contributions of our volunteers, as well as the importance of our established events, including the upcoming Collection Systems Conference in Fall 2025 and the Pacific Water Conference in Spring 2026. Big Mahalo to our amazing Past‑President, Brandon Uejo, for his volunteer contributions that have positioned HWEA for success. To all our members, we invite you to consider becoming more actively involved with our organization or else we look forward to your presence at one of our events this year.

As President, I aim to use this role to better understand the organization and implement positive changes such as exploring whether there are any new programs HWEA could offer our members that would more closely align with their present goals and aspirations. If you have suggestions for new programs or initiatives that HWEA should consider, please contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Mahalo for this new opportunity as President. I look forward to collaborating with everyone this year!
